If the WTBT$ is going to ease or reverse themselves on the blood issue, it will be because they can see lawsuits coming from their doctrine that they force upon JW's with the threat of disfellowshipping. That is my hunch. If they change anything it is always due to CYA from lawsuits.

WHEN WAS THE VERY LAST ARTICLE ON BLOOD IN EITHER THE WATCHTOWER OR THE AWAKE?
by steve2 inthere's been a buzz on this forum - on and off but currently on - that there has not been an article in any watchtower publication on the blood ban for a while - which feeds speculation that the organization is distancing itself from this doctrinal absurdity.
does that mean there's been nothing mentioned about the blood doctrine for months or years?
specifically, when did the watchtower last mention the blood ban?

District Convention
by thedog1 indon't know if this has been covered before, but who noticed that at every talk at the district convention (mine anyway), every speaker was introduced by name and then 'brother x has been serving for 25 years as a pioneer" or "he has served on the branch committee" etc etc.. what is it with these credentials?
i've been an elder on and off for most of the last twenty years.
big deal.

Bizarro world conclusion to the 2014 International Convention Public Bible Discourse
by rory-ks init was entitled earth's new ruler - who really qualifies?
given by brother mark neumeyer*, "who has been a full-time servant for nearly 35 years, and is a helper of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
" it was his second talk of the convention.

What I would give to know the *actual* number of people who received an invitation to the convention and showed up. This guy is probably talking to less than 10 people, including satellite conventions. (no fair to count the homeless people who waddled into the convention, they do not count!!)
But no one could ever know this. The typical mind-numb JW in that audience is probably thinking that a significant group in the audience is hearing these "welcoming words" for the first time and how joyful they must be that all that busy work time was wasted errr... spent littering the world with invitations.

Darth Fader The Sequel
I have said before in another thread, I have never paid any attention to the GB and getting to know their names or faces or biographies. I never cared since I was a kid. Even way before I knew TTATT, these old dudes meant no more to me than any other human being.
Lett- I saw him for the first time last year at the super-duper, extra-special, geek-party of the year (aka- "The Annual Meeting"). I instantly knew this guy was a clown. If he was running a feed store or had a booth at a farmers market selling apples and onions I would have no issue with him. Just an old quirky dude. But for this guy to be considered by most JDUBS to be "anointed" and a mouthpiece of God is hilarious. He is pure clown. In the video, who does he think his audience is? 1st graders? Fetuses still in the womb? The mentally retarded? (no offense to the MR's) How can anyone think this is the manner a person who claims such elite status should speak to "Bible students"? Beyond insulting.
Also, the pillars/columns in the back round of the video are oh-so-subtle (sarcasm). Everyone knows that if you stand next to a bunch of pillars that everything you say is correct and should be respected as the word of God. (BLECH!!!!)

Who Really Profits from the WTBTS?
by Freedom77 inlike they say in the movies, "follow the money.
" the thought occurred to me the other day - the wt scam rakes in billions of dollars, and yeah some of that goes to operations and equipment.
but bethelites at farm and factory get only a bare little dorm room and a monthly pittance.

Money is the byproduct of POWER!! The WTBT$ has hundreds of millions and billions of dollars to do as they please with. How did they get that money? By developing their POWER over others. Was their goal to enrich themselves and their own bank accounts and live with the yachts and the jewelry and the dancing boys and girls? No. Their goal was the POWER!!!! Sure, the GB and the high ranking WT officials live comfortably and have a few personal perks and benefits (their Warwick project is their most audacious one yet). But that is not enough to run a global empire. The addiction, the greed..... is to the POWER!!!! Being treated like gods walking the earth. To be lauded and held up as God's very own specially selected mouthpieces. To have millions of people who obey every word you utter. THAT adoration and POWER is worth far more than any tangible luxuries a fat personal bank account could ever buy.

I have a young child under the age of 10. Over the last few years I was trying to do what I *was told* and teach her stories from the Bible. I attempted to use the JW Bible Story Book. What I found myself doing is scanning through all the different chapters and only finding a handful that I felt was appropriate subject matter for my child. Almost every single story in the book contained violence or other horrific things going on that my very lovely and innocent child has no need to know. Not to mention that the OVERWHELMING GUILT AND FEAR being heaped on in every chapter as the "moral of the story". NO THANKS!!! I'll teach my child the things they need to know about Jehovah, Jesus and our real faith with my own filter on it instead of the highly distasteful BORG spin on everything.
I have said many times over the years to any JW that would listen........ If a movie was made about the Bible and the actual scenes were shown as they are described in the bible (as the OP listed out so beautifully), the movie would be rated XX and would not be able to be shown in any movie theater in this country.

WTBT$ and natural disasters- do they get paid to do the repairs?
by Darth Fader The Sequel inwhen there is a natural disaster in the us, we always hear about the wtbt$ rushing in and doing all sorts of repair work for the local jw's and even for "worldly" neighbors.
a zillion examples of this in the katrina hurricane aftermath, various major floods around the country, tornadoes, fires, etc.
on the surface, this sort of charitable assistance appears to me to be one of the few truly loving and charitable things the wtbt$ ever gets involved with, and certainly all the volunteer jw's who work so hard doing this work deserve credit for their efforts.

BUT!!!!! I am suspicious.
My question (to anyone who may have first hand knowledge of how this all works) is this: Does the WTBT$ make all these repairs on the local JW's homes *on the condition* that they get compensated by the JW's homeowner's insurance or whatever FEMA funds become available to get these people brought back to whole? IF that is the case, are the "worldly" neighbors (the ones that have their stories told a million times in assembly and convention parts and yearbooks for decades after) who also get repairs done by the JW volunteers under the direction of the WTBT$ expected and required to agree to the same compensation agreement?
I ask this question because it has been rumored and insinuated to me over the years but I have no proof or first hand knowledge accounts of it.

How does WTBT$ get away with not filing a public financial statement?
by Darth Fader The Sequel ini have often wondered how the wt gets away with this.
every other "non-profit" or charitable group i know of that takes in donations, has a board, etc must publicly show how they spent their money, how many donations have been given, their assets, etc.
even the individual congregations read the accounts each month and post them on the bulletin board.
